Allentown School Board Appoints Robert Nicholoff to Fill Vacant Board Seat
ALLENTOWN, PA — At its regular meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2024, the Allentown School District Board of Directors voted to appoint Robert “Nick” Nicholoff to fill the vacant seat on the board.
Nicholoff will be sworn in prior to the regularly scheduled Committee Meetings on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. He will serve in this position until the reorganization meeting in December 2027.
Nicholoff is a human resources manager for the Silgan Containers manufacturing plant, where he oversees the HR and administrative functions for more than 60 employees. In this role, he specializes in writing policy, developing strategy, conducting investigations, and resolving interpersonal conflict. Additionally, Nicholoff brings a background in social work as a case manager and group facilitator. He double majored in history and philosophy at the College of New Jersey where he received a Bachelor’s Degree.

Prior to the August 22 Board Meeting, the Allentown Board of Directors received applications from six candidates, five of which met the requirements to fill the vacant seat. The six candidates then participated in public interviews on August 22, before the Regular Board Meeting. These candidates were Nicholoff, Patrick Palmer, Ruby Cruz, Robert E. Smith Jr., and Gizelle Alkhal.

Birks, Allentown School District Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer. “Their dedication to the Allentown School District is truly admirable. We are looking forward to welcoming Mr. Nicholoff to the ASD Board of Directors.”
